Michael Mercurio is a multi-disciplinary artist, based out of Los Angeles, CA., known for his distinctive freestanding and high-relief sculptures, as well as mixed media works. His creations are deeply influenced by the concept of synchronicity; the idea that all events are interconnected; and pareidolia, a phenomenon where the mind perceives familiar patterns.
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, he is primarily self-taught, aside from a handful of workshops at the Brooklyn Museum in his youth.
It wasn’t until 2010 in Los Angeles that he fully embraced art not just as expression, but as a form of medicine; an antidote to the numbing effects of societal constructs that dull the senses and, ultimately, the soul.
In addition to fine art, Mercurio is a trained film actor and has recently extended his creativity to carpentry design. Additionally, he mentors other creative professionals guiding them to rediscover their purpose and passion.
